Role Overview
As our Fractional Chief Product Officer (CPO), you will be responsible for defining and executing our product vision, strategy, and roadmap. You'll oversee the development of our coaching platform, ensuring it delivers exceptional experiences for both clients and coaches. You'll work closely with our CEO, CTO, CMO, CXO, and CCO to ensure our product strategy aligns with business goals and user needs. This role combines strategic product thinking with hands-on execution to drive our platform's development. The fractional nature of this position offers flexibility while allowing you to make a significant impact on our early-stage growth.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Vision
- Define the product vision, strategy, and roadmap that aligns with our mission and business objectives
- Identify market opportunities and develop innovative solutions to address user needs in the coaching space
- Establish product development processes and methodologies suitable for an early-stage startup
- Make strategic product decisions based on a combination of data, user research, and market insights
- Prioritize features and initiatives that deliver maximum value with limited resources
- Develop a product strategy that creates sustainable competitive advantages
User Experience & Design
- Collaborate with the CXO to create seamless, intuitive user experiences for both coaches and clients
- Champion user-centered design principles throughout the product development process
- Establish frameworks for gathering and incorporating user feedback into product decisions
- Define success metrics for user engagement, retention, and satisfaction
- Develop product solutions that facilitate meaningful coaching relationships and outcomes
- Balance user needs with business requirements and technical constraints
Product Development & Execution
- Lead the product development process from concept to launch and beyond
- Work with technical resources to define technical requirements and ensure quality implementation
- Create detailed product specifications and user stories that clearly communicate requirements
- Manage product backlog and prioritize features based on impact, effort, and strategic alignment
- Establish development timelines and ensure on-time delivery of product initiatives
- Implement appropriate product metrics and analytics to measure success
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with marketing to develop positioning, messaging, and go-to-market strategies
- Collaborate with the content team to integrate coaching content into the product experience
- Work with operations to ensure smooth onboarding and management of coaches on the platform
- Communicate product vision and roadmap to stakeholders at all levels
- Translate business objectives into actionable product plans
- Build and nurture relationships with potential technology partners and vendors
Qualifications
Required
- 7+ years of product management experience, with at least 3 years in leadership positions
- Proven track record of shipping successful digital products, preferably in B2C environments
- Experience building and scaling marketplace or platform businesses
- Strong understanding of product development methodologies and best practices
- Data-driven approach to decision making balanced with user empathy
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to translate complex user needs into simple, elegant product solutions
- Experience working with remote or distributed development teams
Preferred
- Experience in coaching, therapy platforms, wellness tech, or similar industries
- Background in subscription-based or marketplace business models
- Understanding of behavioral psychology and user motivation
- Experience working with early-stage startups and limited resources
- Knowledge of coaching methodologies and industry standards
- Technical background or understanding of modern development frameworks
