Role Overview

As our Advertising Director, you will lead the development and execution of our paid acquisition strategy to drive client growth and coach recruitment. This flexible role requires a minimal time commitment (3-5 hours per week) while offering you the opportunity to shape the advertising approach of an innovative startup in the personal development space. You'll work directly with the CEO and leadership team to establish effective advertising campaigns, optimize conversion funnels, and manage our ad budget for maximum ROI. This position is ideal for an experienced advertising professional who is looking to diversify their portfolio with an equity-based opportunity in a promising early-stage company.

Key Responsibilities

Advertising Strategy & Planning

  • Develop comprehensive advertising strategies aligned with business growth objectives
  • Create and implement multi-channel advertising plans across digital platforms
  • Establish KPIs and performance metrics to measure advertising effectiveness
  • Build advertising funnels optimized for both client acquisition and coach recruitment
  • Identify target audience segments and develop persona-based advertising approaches
  • Advise on budget allocation across channels and campaigns for maximum impact

Campaign Management & Optimization

  • Design and launch advertising campaigns across relevant platforms (Google, Meta, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Implement A/B testing frameworks to continuously improve ad performance
  • Optimize campaigns based on performance data and conversion metrics
  • Develop retargeting strategies to capture interested prospects
  • Create landing page recommendations to improve conversion rates
  • Implement tracking and attribution systems to measure campaign effectiveness

Creative Direction

  • Establish creative guidelines for advertising assets
  • Direct the development of compelling ad creative that drives engagement
  • Ensure ad content aligns with our brand voice and positioning
  • Create ad copy that resonates with our target audiences
  • Develop creative testing frameworks to identify high-performing content
  • Implement personalization strategies to improve relevance and conversion

Channel Strategy

  • Identify the most effective advertising channels for our target audiences
  • Develop platform-specific strategies that leverage each channel's strengths
  • Implement cross-channel attribution to understand the customer journey
  • Explore emerging advertising platforms and opportunities
  • Create strategic partnerships with relevant media outlets when appropriate
  • Develop contextual advertising approaches for coaching-related content

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, or related field
  • 7+ years of advertising experience, with at least 3 years in advertising leadership roles
  • Strong understanding of digital advertising platforms (Google Ads, Meta Ads, etc.)
  • Experience developing and optimizing conversion funnels
  • Demonstrated ability to manage advertising budgets and improve ROI
  • Knowledge of advertising analytics and performance measurement
  • Comfort with a lightweight, advisory role with flexible time commitment

Preferred

  • Experience in the coaching, wellness, tech, or personal development industries
  • Background with digital platforms, marketplaces, or subscription business models
  • Strong understanding of both B2C and B2B advertising approaches
  • Experience with content-driven advertising strategies
  • Knowledge of community building and engagement tactics
  • Previous advertising roles in startups or early-stage companies
