Role Overview

As our Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for identifying opportunities, building relationships, and closing strategic business deals that drive revenue and growth. This role requires 15-20 hours per week and offers significant equity potential as you help build our B2B and partnership revenue streams. You'll work closely with the Chief of Business Development to identify prospects, develop relationships, negotiate terms, and close deals with corporations, government agencies, and strategic partners.

This position is ideal for a results-driven business development professional with strong sales and closing skills, experience in B2B deal-making, and the ability to build relationships and navigate complex sales cycles. You'll have the opportunity to shape our business development approach and directly impact revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities

Prospecting & Opportunity Identification

  • Identify and research potential business partners, clients, and strategic opportunities
  • Develop target lists of corporations, government agencies, and organizations that could benefit from our coaching platform
  • Research decision-makers and key stakeholders at target organizations
  • Monitor industry trends and market opportunities to identify new prospects
  • Qualify leads and opportunities based on fit, potential value, and likelihood to close
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities

Relationship Building & Outreach

  • Initiate contact with prospects through various channels (email, LinkedIn, phone, events)
  • Build and nurture relationships with key decision-makers and influencers
  • Develop customized outreach strategies and messaging for different prospect types
  • Schedule and conduct discovery calls and meetings with prospects
  • Present our platform and value proposition to potential partners and clients
  • Maintain ongoing communication and relationship management throughout the sales cycle

Deal Closing & Negotiation

  • Lead negotiations on partnership terms, pricing, and contract structures
  • Develop proposals and presentations that address client needs and objectives
  • Navigate complex sales cycles and overcome objections to close deals
  • Work with legal and leadership teams to finalize contracts and agreements
  • Ensure deals are structured to maximize value and align with company goals
  • Track and report on deal progress, pipeline, and closing metrics

RFP Response & Proposal Development

  • Identify and evaluate relevant RFPs and proposal opportunities
  • Coordinate with internal teams to develop comprehensive, competitive proposals
  • Ensure proposals accurately address client requirements and highlight our value proposition
  • Manage proposal timelines, deadlines, and submission processes
  • Follow up on submitted proposals and manage the proposal-to-contract process
  • Continuously improve proposal quality and win rates based on feedback and results

Account Management & Expansion

  • Manage relationships with existing partners and clients
  • Identify opportunities for account expansion and upselling
  • Ensure client satisfaction and address any concerns or issues
  • Facilitate contract renewals and extensions
  • Gather feedback from clients to inform product and service improvements
  • Build long-term relationships that lead to referrals and additional opportunities

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or account management
  • Proven track record of closing B2B deals and meeting sales targets
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience with complex sales cycles
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building abilities
  • Experience with CRM systems and sales pipeline management
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented with strong time management skills
  • Comfort with a flexible, results-oriented role with significant equity upside

Preferred

  • Experience in the coaching, wellness, healthcare, or personal development industries
  • Background with B2B SaaS or marketplace business models
  • Experience with government contracting and RFP processes
  • Experience with corporate wellness programs or employee benefits sales
  • Previous startup experience or experience in high-growth environments
  • Network of contacts in target industries and organizations
  • Experience with proposal writing and RFP response development
